The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music is an American musical film. It was made it 1965 by the film company 20th Century Fox. It was based on a Broadway musical also called The Sound of Music. This Broadway musical was first performed on November 16, 1959. It’s thought of as the most successful musical film ever.

In the film, the main characters were played by Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The story is about a young Austrian woman who is studying to become a nun. She is sent to the house of a retired naval officer to look after his seven children. She has a kind character and a love of music. She brings the family together using music. Later she marries the retired naval officer.

The Sound of Music was very successful. It won five Oscars. Many people think it saved the film company 20th Century Fox. It is still watched and loved by people all over the world.
