The Fastest Car in the World

Have you ever heard of the Hennessey Venom GT car? Well, on February 14, 2014, this car became the fastest car in the world. Up until this point, the fastest car had been Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. In July 2010, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport reached the speed of 434.30 kilometers per hour (km/h) and became the fastest car in the world. The Hennessey Venom GT went even faster though. It just made it as it reached 435.31 km/h.

According to the Guinness World Records though, the Bugatti Veyron is still the fastest car in the world. This is because to qualify the car needs to drive both ways down the track. The Hennessey Venom GT was driven at Kennedy Space Center in Florida and NASA wouldn’t allow the test team to race both ways. So, although it went faster, it isn’t recognized as the fastest car in the world.
