Have you ever heard of photobombing? A photobomb is when someone or something appears unexpectedly in a photo just as it is being taken. This is usually done as a prank or a practical joke. The word first appeared in the Online Oxford English Dictionary in August, 2012. In 2014, the word photobomb was chosen as the word of the year by Collins English Dictionary.

In the last few years photobombed photos have spread rapidly on the Internet. This is perhaps because more people have digital cameras and photos are easy to share. It might also be because they can look very funny! Sometimes, people will photobomb their friend’s photos on purpose. Other times a photobombed picture is just a coincidence. There are many very funny pictures on the Internet of animals photobombing people’s pictures.
