Giant Pandas

What do you know about giant pandas? The black and white coat and black patches around the eyes make the panda very easy to recognize, but many people know little about this beautiful animal. It comes from, or it is native to, south central China. It is also one of the shyest animals in the world. It spends most of its time feeding. This is because it likes to eat bamboo and the bamboo is not very nutritious. A panda therefore eats up to 20 kilograms a day and it spends about 16 hours a day doing this.

Pandas don’t look like they are very active, but this is not true. They are actually very good at climbing trees. They will climb up a tree if there are any dangerous animals around. Pandas are also good at swimming. Unfortunately, pandas are now one of the rarest animals in the world. There are only about 1,000 giant pandas left in the wild. This means they are an endangered animal.
