G-Shock is a brand of watches made by Casio. They are very tough watches. They can be dropped or hit and they don’t break. The first G-Shock was made in 1983. It was designed by Kikuo Ibe. He is a Japanese engineer who wanted to make a watch which would have a 10 year battery, be able to go 10 meters underwater, and wouldn’t break if it fell 10 meters and landed on a hard surface. He had this idea when he dropped his favorite watch and it broke. Ibe and a team of other engineers worked hard to develop a watch that could do all these things. They would design a watch, and then throw it out of the window!
The idea for the G-Shock was a rubber ball. It was something that would bounce when it hit the ground. The first G-Shock was released in 1983, and they became very popular in the 1990s. By 1998, G-Shock had sold more than 19 million watches. They are still popular today and are a great watch for active people.
