Brad Pitt is one of the most famous actors in the world. He was born in 1963 in Missouri and almost became a journalist before dropping out of college. In 1986, he moved to Hollywood with only $325 and slept on a friend’s couch. While he looked for acting jobs, he worked as a chauffeur and a dancing mascot at a restaurant. By coincidence, he met an acting coach named Roy London. Roy helped him develop his acting technique and Brad finally got offered some jobs as an actor. He started off doing potato chip commercials and working as an unpaid actor (called an “extra”) on movies.
He finally got a big opportunity (called a “big break”) when he starred in a movie called Thelma & Louise in 1991. This movie made him a star and he got many offers to be in new Hollywood films. Throughout the 1990s, Brad Pitt starred in many different movies and had various roles. He played a police detective, a vampire, and a spy. In the 2000s, he began to produce movies though he is still acting. Many people are surprised to learn that Brad Pitt can speak conversational Japanese. He and his wife, Angelina Jolie, also work towards helping the environment and improving the lives of children in other countries.
